Smith Anderson’s Litigation Group and 13 Lawyers Honored by Benchmark Litigation

Benchmark Litigation

Benchmark Litigation, “the definitive guide to America’s leading litigation firms and attorneys,” recognized Smith Anderson and 13 of its lawyers in the 2019 edition, which included for the first time a chapter on employment litigation.

In the inaugural Benchmark Litigation Labor & Employment rankings, Smith Anderson’s Employment Litigation practice group received a “Recommended” rating for North Carolina, the highest possibly rating in this category. In addition, Employment Litigation group co-leads Kerry Shad and Zeb Anderson were named to the “Labor & Employment Star – South” list.

In the general rankings, Smith Anderson’s Litigation practice once again received a “Highly Recommended” rating for North Carolina, the highest possible rating. The publication also recognized 10 of our lawyers as either North Carolina State “Litigation Stars” or “Future Stars.” In addition, one of our lawyers was named to the publication’s 40 & Under Hot List.

North Carolina State “Litigation Stars”

The Benchmark Litigation list of 2019 North Carolina “Litigation Stars” reflects only those individuals who were recommended consistently as reputable and effective litigators by clients and peers. The following nine Smith Anderson partners are included in the 2019 edition as “Litigation Stars” in North Carolina:

North Carolina “Future Stars”

The Benchmark Litigation list of 2019 North Carolina “Future Stars” reflects those lawyers consistently referenced by peers and clients as litigators who are likely to be become “Litigation Stars” in coming editions of the publication. This year, Smith Anderson partner Jackson Moore is included as a 2019 “Future Star” in North Carolina.

40 & Under Hot List

The Benchmark Litigation “40 & Under Hot List” highlights lawyers who are among the top young talent in their respective litigation communities. This year, Smith Anderson partner Isaac Linnartz is included on the Hot List.

Benchmark Litigation focuses exclusively on U.S. litigation. The publication’s results stem from the culmination of a six-month research period where its researchers conduct extensive interviews with litigators and their clients to identify the leading litigators and firms. During these interviews, researchers examine recent casework handled by law firms and ask individual litigators to offer their professional opinions on peers. Law firms cannot pay to be recommended for the guide. Recommendations are based on interviews with private practice lawyers and in-house counsel. For more information, visit
