Smith Anderson Welcomes Three Attorneys to Its Partnership

Smith Anderson is pleased to announce that it has named Alex Bowling, James Jolley and Darrell Fruth partners in the largest Triangle-based business and litigation law firm.

Alex joined Smith Anderson in 2013 and is a member of the firm's Corporate team, focusing his practice on public company securities, corporate law and mergers and acquisitions. Best Lawyers® named him a 2022 "One to Watch" in Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Leveraged Buyouts and Private Equity Law, and North Carolina Super Lawyers recognizes Alex as a top up-and-coming lawyer in the state. He obtained his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law and serves on Smith Anderson's Associates Committee.

James joined the firm in 2015 and is also a member of Smith Anderson's Corporate team, focusing his practice on mergers and acquisitions, corporate law and public company securities. Best Lawyers® named him a "One to Watch" in the areas of Mergers and Acquisitions and Securities/Capital Markets Law. James serves as vice chair of Smith Anderson's Pro Bono Committee and is active with Legal Aid of NC's Lawyer on the Line to serve those in need. He received his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

Darrell joined Smith Anderson in 2018 and is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property group. He works with clients in the software, tech, AgTech and life sciences industries on licensing and other transactions. Best Lawyers® named Darrell a 2021 Raleigh "Lawyer of the Year" in Trademark Law and also recognized him for his work in Trade Secrets Law and Intellectual Property litigation. Darrell obtained his J.D from Yale Law School and earned his Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of California at Berkley.
