Mid Year Review

Steve Parascandola Presents on Lease Issues at the TBJ's Mid Year Review

For the 6th consecutive year, Smith Anderson partner Stephen T. Parascandola was selected as part of a diverse panel of professionals knowledgeable about area real estate trends to present at this year’s Mid Year Review. Sponsored by the Triangle Business Journal and held this year on July 27th, the networking and business event brings together diverse professionals from the Triangle-area real estate community to learn about area real estate trends and developments.

Mr. Parascandola’s presentation, “Lease Update: They’re Getting Longer,” informed attendees on several legal and other developments which have the potential to significantly impact commercial leases. These include developments under the Patriot Act, 2005 Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act, and the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act as well as other pertinent developments impacting toxic mold, economic incentives and building security issues.

Several hundred attendees participated in the morning conference and the TBJ estimated that attendance this year exceeded attendance from any prior year.

A real estate and environmental lawyer for nearly 20 years, Mr. Parascandola has significant experience in commercial real estate matters, including land use, purchase and sales transactions, and commercial office lease issues. His broad environmental experience includes environmental, health and safety law and litigation, from permitting and regulatory compliance issues to transactional and litigation matters at both the State and Federal levels.
