Smith Anderson Welcomes Five Associate Attorneys

Raleigh, N.C. – Smith Anderson, the largest law firm headquartered in North Carolina’s Research Triangle area, announces that five new attorneys have joined the Firm as Associates. The Firm welcomes Mike Frongello, Eva Gullick Frongello, Kayla Marshall, Theresa Monteleone and Gray Wilson.

Michael Frongello focuses his practice on representing companies in mergers and acquisitions and commercial transactions, counseling clients with regard to general corporate and commercial law issues, and assisting clients in connection with leasing, buying, and selling commercial real estate. Mike graduated from Davidson cum laude with a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Economics, and earned a law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law. While in law school, Mike represented the University of North Carolina School of Law as a member of the Holderness Moot Court Negotiation Team at the 2013 ABA Regional Negotiation Competition.  In addition, he was the Symposium Editor for the North Carolina Journal of Law and Technology.  Mike has been involved in the community through his work as a youth baseball coach with the West Raleigh Baseball Association and helped lead the West Raleigh 12-year-old All-Star team to the 2011 Cal Ripken World Series. 

Eva Gullick Frongello practices in the areas of complex contract disputes, construction law and medical malpractice defense. She received her law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law, with honors, and is a recipient of the Gressman-Pollitt Oral Advocacy Award, Best Appellant. In addition, Eva served as a Staff Member for the North Carolina Law Review and was Vice President of Philanthropy with the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.  Prior to that, she graduated from the University of North Carolina with a B.A. in International Studies and Psychology. Between college and law school, Eva was a High School teacher with Teach For America in Atlanta.

Kayla Marshall focuses her practice in the areas of general litigation, commercial litigation and employment litigation.  Kayla earned her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and graduated from the University of North Carolina with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication, with the highest distinction. While in law school, she served as the Articles Editor for The Virginia Law Review. Prior to joining Smith Anderson, Kayla completed an internship with Judge James Jones of the Western District of Virginia.

Theresa Monteleone joins our Firm’s private equity practice group.  Theresa earned her law degree from the Duke University School of Law, magna cum laude, and graduated from Saint Benedict College, summa cum laude, with a B.A. in Philosophy and Spanish. During law school, she was the Publication Editor for Law and Contemporary Problems.  Prior to joining Smith Anderson, Theresa was an associate with Mayer Brown in Charlotte, N.C.

Gray Wilson joins our Firm’s commercial litigation and real estate development practices. He received a Masters in Public Policy and earned his law degree from Duke University School of Law, magna cum laude, and was elected to the Order of the Coif. While in Law School, Gray was the Publication Editor for Law and Contemporary Problems and the Executive Editor for Duke Environmental Law and Policy Forum.  Prior to that, Gray graduated from the University of North Carolina with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Spanish.  Before joining Smith Anderson, Gray served as a law clerk to the Honorable James C. Dever, III on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
