Smith Anderson Partner Kimberly Quarles Swintosky Appointed to NC Board of Chiropractic Examiners

North Carolina Office of the Governor

Kimberly Quarles Swintosky has been appointed by Governor Roy Cooper to the North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NCBOCE). The NCBOCE was established in 1917 by the N.C. General Assembly to regulate doctors of chiropractic for the benefit and protection of the people of North Carolina.

Kim is one of 28 new members appointed to 23 North Carolina Boards and Commissions by Gov. Cooper. She was selected as one of two appointees to NCBOE who are not health care providers, and whose focus is to represent the public at large. In a statement released by the Governor’s press office, Gov. Cooper remarked, “I’m thankful for the expertise each appointee brings to serving North Carolina, and for their help as we work to move North Carolina forward.”

Kim practices tax, corporate and business law with an emphasis on private equity transactions and general representation of closely-held businesses and their owners. She regularly advises privately-owned businesses and their owners with respect to business and individual taxation and other business-related legal needs, including succession and estate planning.  Before joining Smith Anderson, Kim worked as a tax consultant with Arthur Andersen, LLP. She is a North Carolina Certified Public Accountant (CPA), an emeritus board member for the Carolina Ballet and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wake County.
