Jim Dorsett Elected President of American Board of Trial Advocates, Eastern North Carolina Chapter

RALEIGH, N.C. – Jim Dorsett, a partner with Smith Anderson’s Commercial Litigation practice, has been elected president of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), Eastern North Carolina Chapter. He was elected at the group’s annual meeting on Thursday, December 8 in Raleigh to serve a one year term.

Mr. Dorsett practices in the areas of commercial litigation, products liability, and tort and insurance litigation. His recent work has involved the representation of parties in contract disputes, products liability actions, estate and taxation disputes, and personal injury actions in the state and federal courts. Mr. Dorsett also serves as a certified mediator and represents parties in alternative dispute resolution matters. He is a past president of the NC State Bar and the American Counsel Association and active in local civic affairs.

ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The organization works to uphold the jury system by educating the American public about the history and value of the right to trial by jury.
