David Hayden Speaks at the 16th Annual Government Contracting Update

Raleigh, NC (December 15, 2011) – David Hayden, a lawyer with Smith Anderson’s Government Contracting practice group, delivered a presentation at the 16th Annual Government Contracting Update on Wednesday, December 14 in Research Triangle Park. Representatives interested in government contracting from small and large companies and firms were in attendance.

Mr. Hayden’s presentation focused on recently issued Small Business Administration Rules concerning the 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business Development Program. These rules represented the first comprehensive change to the program in over 10 years. He discussed the recent changes and how they can effect business decisions and corporate strategies for companies enrolled in or applying for the 8(a) program as well as companies considering working with 8(a) companies in joint ventures and other arrangements. He shared his previous experiences and practical lessons learned as the general counsel for a very successful 8(a) company. Mr. Hayden was joined in the presentation by Mr. Gregg Funkhouser, Partner-in-Charge of Government Contracting Services for Dixon Hughes Goodman.
