Caroline Belk Speaks at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Section of the NCBA
Raleigh, NC (May 10, 2011) Caroline Belk, a lawyer with Smith Anderson, spoke at the Annual Meeting of the Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Section of the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA). The title of the event was “Environmental Essentials for the Next Decade.” Ms. Belk discussed hot topics in hazardous waste litigation, including the impacts of the 2009 US Supreme Court decision in Burlington Northern, a recent decision in the Fourth Circuit regarding the bona fide prospective purchaser defense under The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), and recent developments in Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) litigation. The annual meeting was held in Myrtle Beach, SC on Friday and Saturday, May 6th and 7th.
Ms. Belk’s practice focuses on Environment, Health & Safety and Contract Disputes and Commercial Litigation, including complex environmental litigation, contaminated properties, and OSHA matters. She also counsels clients on regulatory compliance and provides corporate transaction support in the fields of environmental law and worker safety.
