Business NC Power 100 Taps Gerald Roach for Third Consecutive Year

Business North Carolina

Smith Anderson firm chair Gerald Roach has been named to Business North Carolina’s Power 100 list of the state’s most influential business leaders for the third year in a row. The annual list focuses on the state’s people who, in most instances, have a major impact on both their individual enterprises and broader communities.

Power 100 had this to say about Gerald: "The veteran leader of the biggest Raleigh-based law firm advised First Citizens Bancshares on its purchase of Franklin-based Entegra Financial, continuing a long career in merger and acquisition law. Roach and Smith Anderson have resisted the pressure to tie up with a larger law firm, reflecting the 140-lawyer partnership’s deep ties in the Triangle business community. Roach also has a big role in the Triad as chairman of the Wake Forest University board of trustees, which last year negotiated a medical partnership with Winston-Salem-based Wake Forest Baptist Health and Charlotte-based Atrium Health."

Winners are selected each year based largely on input from North Carolina business professionals, as well as from the magazine’s editorial team on which leaders are representative of some broad categories, such as institutional or networking powerhouses among others.
