Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite Honors 13 Smith Anderson Attorneys in Specialty Areas of Law

Business North Carolina magazine has named 10 Smith Anderson attorneys to its peer-driven 2023 Legal Elite list in their respective practice areas, in addition to the four firm lawyers who are members of the Legal Elite Hall of Fame. Approximately 1,000 North Carolina lawyers received votes, with those garnering the most are recognized in 16 areas of law specialties as Hall of Fame members.

Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite honors lawyers chosen by their colleagues who are members of the North Carolina State Bar. The Smith Anderson attorneys who were named to the 2023 Legal Elite list in their respective practice areas are:

• Eva Frongello, Intellectual Property
• Mike Frongello, Real Estate
• Jason Martinez, Corporate
• Mike Mitchell, Litigation
• Gerald Roach, Corporate
• Kerry Shad, Employment
• Kim Swintosky, Tax and Estate Planning
• Casey Vaughn, Construction

Smith Anderson Chair Gerald Roach was installed in the Business Hall of Fame in 2009, while attorneys Steve Mason and Allen York were named to the Real Estate Hall of Fame in 2009 and 2020, respectively. Pete Marino has been a Construction Hall of Fame member since 2011.

The magazine contracted DataJoe Research, a software and research company specializing in data collection and verification, to facilitate an online voting and internet research process. According to the article, DataJoe Research conducts various nominations across the nation on behalf of publishers and presented the tallied results to Business North Carolina for its final review and adjustments.
