Ballard suggests North Carolina taxpayers may want to consider seeking an extension on filing state returns due to the recent federal tax law changes. State lawmakers have not yet decided whether they will conform to the changes made in the 2017 federal tax act and leave North Carolina taxpayers in a predicament of filing a tax return before the Legislature makes a decision.
