Raleigh, N.C. – Smith Anderson Partner Dave Clement was appointed to serve as Chair of the Business Corporations Committee of the Business Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA). The Committee is responsible for periodically monitoring changes to the Model Business Corporation Act and changes to corporation law in selected other jurisdictions, as well as recommending conforming changes where appropriate for the North Carolina Business Corporation Act, Chapter 55 of the General Statutes, which is based upon the Model Business Corporation Act. The Committee also reviews all proposed legislation to amend Chapter 55 and members of the Committee often represent the NCBA in committee hearings of the North Carolina General Assembly related to such legislation.
