The Open Courts Compendium is a general guide to court access issues, with specific information for each state and federal circuit. Smith Anderson attorneys drafted the 8th Circuit case law chapter of this online legal resource. The Reporters Committee publishes chapters contributed by attorneys practicing in jurisdictions across the country.

The 8th Circuit chapter gives an overview of the media’s rights to access courts proceedings and records in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. The online treatise allows users to compare case law in the 8th Circuit chapter with media access rights in other circuits and jurisdictions.

The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press provides pro bono legal representation, amicus curiae support, and other legal resources to protect First Amendment freedoms and the newsgathering rights of journalists.
