Overview

Tim Lehan has over 30 years' experience in trial practice in civil matters. Clients he regularly represents includes hospitals, other health care institutions, physicians, nurses and insurance companies with respect to coverage questions. Risk management and tort reform are two areas that he frequently gives presentations on.

His deep experience comprises defending health care providers in both Federal and State trial courts as well as Appellate Courts. He has tried many medical malpractice cases to jury verdict in which the suits often involved high damages potential with counsel from North Carolina as well as out-of state counsel. Over the years Tim has had the privilege of representing some of the State’s largest hospitals and health systems as well defending individual health care providers.

Additionally, Tim serves in various positions of leadership at Smith Anderson including service on the Compensation Committee and co-leads the firm's General Litigation practice area.
