Overview

PJ Cline focuses his practice on tax, private equity and fund formation matters. He routinely advises clients on the federal and state tax aspects of equity investments and mergers and acquisitions as well as a wide range of other tax and corporate law matters including business formation and capitalization transactions. PJ also regularly advises non-profit organizations.

Prior to joining Smith Anderson, PJ practiced in the asset management group of an international law firm, advising private funds in connection with formation, transactional, regulatory and compliance matters, as well as advising nonprofits on formation, governance and dissolution. PJ also represented funds and corporate end-users in various derivative transactions.

During law school, PJ was the publication editor of the North Carolina Banking Institute Journal and was a national finalist on the Holderness Moot Court Intellectual Property Team. Additionally, PJ worked in an intellectual property clinic at the University of North Carolina School of Law.

PJ and his wife, Kelly, enjoy walking their dog, Patsy Cline. As a native New Yorker, he is a fan of the Giants and Yankees.
