Mark Ash Becomes Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers

Smith Anderson partner, Mark Ash, has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. The American College of Trial Lawyers consists of the best and most highly respected trial bar from the United States and Canada and is considered the most prestigious trial organization in America.

Fellowship is by invitation and only after careful investigation is the invitation extended to those whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, recognition as the best in their state/province, propriety and cooperative interaction among colleagues. Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship. Membership in the College is restricted and can never be more than 1% of the total lawyer population of any state or province. This number includes active Fellows, Emeritus Fellows, Judicial Fellows and Honorary Fellows.

Founded in 1950, the American College of Trial Lawyers concentrates on preserving and improving the standards of trial practice, the administration of justice and the ethics of the legal profession. Qualified lawyers are selected from among those who customarily represent plaintiffs in civil cases and those who customarily represent defendants, those who prosecute accused of crimes and those who defend them. The College is thus able to speak with a balanced voice on important issues affecting the legal profession and the administration of justice.

Mr. Ash practices in the areas of commercial litigation, aviation litigation, intellectual property and employment disputes. He advises clients regarding litigation risk management issues, as well. He is listed in Chambers USA, America’s Leading Business Lawyers; Woodward/White, Inc.’s, The Best Lawyers in America; Business North Carolina Legal Elite and North Carolina Super Lawyers. Mr. Ash received his A.B. from Harvard and his J.D. from the University of Virginia. He has worked with Smith Anderson since 1986.
