On August 16, 2014, Merrill Mason, head of Smith Anderson’s Start-Ups practice, along with Smith Anderson lawyers Jesse Jones and Mikal Shaikh, participated in a legal clinic for UNC MBA students in the development of their venture ideas. The clinic took place through the Entrepreneurial Studies program at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School where students learn the analytical skills to recognize opportunities, while developing the people skills to tap into the broader UNC entrepreneurial network. The program concludes with a legal clinic where seasoned attorneys provide insight through an interview style session with these students and offer guidance with overcoming the typical hurdles that an emerging business may face.
