Melissa Stockley Jones joined Smith Anderson in November of 2000. She concentrates in the area of medical malpractice defense litigation where she assists attorneys in every stage of the case. Prior to joining Smith Anderson, she worked in the areas of personal injury, collections, construction litigation and bankruptcy.
Melissa earned her designation of Certified Paralegal (CP) from the National Association of Legal Assistants in April of 1998 and earned her designation of Advanced Certified Paralegal (ACP) in Discovery from the National Association of Legal Assistants in May of 2010. She received her designation of North Carolina Certified Paralegal (NCCP) from the North Carolina State Bar in December of 2005. She is a member of the National Association of Legal Assistants and the Paralegal Division of the North Carolina Bar Association.
Melissa has been involved with various paralegal associations during her career. For the North Carolina Paralegal Association, she has served as Chair for the CLA Review Course from 2002 through 2004; First Vice President from 2004 through 2007 and again from 2011 through 2013; and Registration Chair from 2007 through 2011. Melissa currently serves as a Council Member for the Paralegal Division of the North Carolina Bar Association and Co-Chairs the CPE Committee. Melissa has also served as a proctor for the paralegals sitting for the North Carolina Certified Paralegal Exam.
