Ed has a broad range of intellectual property legal experience, including patent and trademark preparation and prosecution, licensing, litigation, post-grant reviews and inter partes reviews (IPRs), portfolio management, and opinion analyses. His practice spans across many technologies and industries including aerospace and defense, clean energy, consumer products, eCommerce, information technology, manufacturing, medical devices, semiconductors, telecommunications and transportation. Ed has drafted numerous technology and software licenses and has represented leading consumer electronic companies with the patenting of their technology. Further, Ed has extensive experience in building standard-essential patent portfolios designed to withstand scrutiny in due diligence and litigation.

Ed’s undergraduate and graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering enable him to span many different technology areas such as 4G/5G telecommunications, artificial intelligence, blockchain, clean energy, consumer devices, Internet-of-Things (IoT), manufacturing processes, robotics, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), and water treatment systems.

Prior to practicing law, Ed founded PrairieComm, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company providing baseband chips and software to leading cellular handset manufacturers. Ed was recognized in 2000 by Inc. magazine for his company being ranked in the Inc. 500 as one of the top 25 fastest growing companies in America, and in 2001 Ed was named by the Wall Street Journal to the Unstrung 25 for his leadership in wireless communications. Ed is currently managing editor of Antitrust Issues in Intellectual Property Law (published by the American Bar Association).
