Scott Miskimon’s Work Published in an Anthology Entitled Cavalry of the American Revolution

RALEIGH, N.C. – Scott Miskimon, a partner in Smith Anderson’s contract disputes and litigation practice area, recently authored an essay published in the anthology Cavalry of the American Revolution. Mr. Miskimon’s essay is entitled Anthony Walton White: A Revolutionary Dragoon. The essay is a biographical sketch of Anthony Walton White, a colonel in the American cavalry during the American Revolution. He fought with distinction in New York and Georgia, but in South Carolina suffered a disastrous defeat that led to the surrender of the American army trapped under siege in Charleston. White was a mercurial and controversial figure who, when not crossing swords with the British, was frequently being court-martialed, only to be exonerated each time. Mr. Miskimon’s essay explores White’s many trials and tribulations during the war and afterwards. White was a notorious figure during the Whiskey Rebellion in the 1790s, and was the spear point that Alexander Hamilton used to crush that homegrown revolt against the new American government.

Cavalry of the American Revolution is published by Westholme Publishing and is a collection of essays originally presented at a symposium at Wofford College. The book is also currently featured by the History Book Club and the Military History Book Club.
