Partner Joe Dickinson Discusses How Big Data is Reshaping Health Care with the Triad Business Journal

In the article “An app a day: How big data is reshaping health care,” Triad Business Journal’s Jessica Seaman examines how technology companies are delving into the health care space, and how the health care industry specifically is beginning to embrace big data in order to improve patients’ health and potentially drive down health care costs.

Smith Anderson Partner Joe Dickinson points out that tech giants, such as Google and Amazon, have always recognized the value of data, and that the health care industry is learning to appreciate this asset.

“Health care, while I think generally has recognized the value of data, I don’t think they have been as responsive to the significant economic value of data,” Joe explained. The health care industry “is doing a little bit of a catch up when it comes to taking advantage of all of the data that they have access to.”
