Alicia Gilleskie Quoted in Law360 on Data-Sharing Bills and Cybersecurity

Raleigh, N.C. – In an article published by Law360 on April 24, 2015, Cyberinsurance Thaw Hinges On Data-Sharing Bills,” Alicia Gilleskie is quoted on impending cybersecurity legislation, which proposes increased data sharing to grow awareness of cybersecurity threats.

In the article, Alicia “pointed out ‘that cyber risks affect each company differently, depending on its industry and nature of its operations.’  In general, there isn’t a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach that an organization can apply to cover those risks, ‘and thus, no clear market standard for addressing these risks across industries has emerged.’”

Alicia further notes that  she has seen businesses approach the cybersecurity and data management issues in various ways: “In our experience, the level of attention any one organization dedicates to the issue of cybersecurity and information management depends on a variety of factors, such as general awareness of the applicable regulatory landscape, company culture, management focus, cost perceptions and available resources,” Gilleskie said. “The increased knowledge sharing that the proposed legislation promotes should have the additional benefit of promoting further awareness and continuing to evolve our market approach to mitigating risk in this area.”
