John Madden Invited Speaker at the North Carolina Society of Gastroenterology Annual Meeting

On February 10, 2008, Smith Anderson partner John Madden
presented as an invited speaker at the North Carolina Society of Gastroenterology Annual Meeting.

His presentation, Medical Malpractice Law in North Carolina: A Defense Lawyer's Perspective, offered attendees a practical overview of issues important to physicians, including current trends, ways to prevent law suits and what to expect if a law suit occurs. Attendees included physicians from all over the state.

Mr. Madden has over 20 years of experience as a defense litigator. His experience includes defending doctors and hospitals in cases of alleged medical negligence and he has handled matters on both the trial and appellate levels. He also has extensive experience in representing businesses and individuals in a wide variety of commercial and business disputes. Mr. Madden regularly represents insurance companies regarding coverage issues as well as allegations of bad faith and unfair and deceptive trade practices. His accomplishments and honors include listing in Business North Carolina's Legal Elite, listing in Woodward/White's The Best Lawyers in America, listing in North Carolina Super Lawyers, and inclusion in the Order of Barristers.
