Caryn McNeill an Invited Speaker at the 2008 NCBA Business Law and Corporate Counsel Sections Joint Annual Meeting

Smith Anderson partner, Caryn McNeill, recently spoke at the joint annual meeting of the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) Business Law Section and Corporate Counsel Section.

Ms. McNeill’s presentation, Special Issues in Mergers and Acquisitions: Employee Benefits Implications, provided attendees with practical information about ways to handle benefits and compensation issues in complex mergers and acquisitions. It also offered an overview of recent developments that may alter future treatment of these issues. Topics included qualified plans, COBRA continuation coverage, stock options and ‘409A’ considerations.

Ms. McNeill leads Smith Anderson’s Employee Benefits practice group. She represents diverse publicly-traded and privately-held companies and her practice includes advising clients on all aspects of the design, implementation and administration of employee benefit plans and executive compensation arrangements. She devotes a significant part of her practice to counseling and negotiating on behalf of clients in connection with mergers and acquisitions.
