Francisco Benzoni Named to Two North Carolina Bar Association Committees

Raleigh, NC ( August 12, 2011) - Francisco Benzoni, a lawyer with Smith Anderson, has been named Chair of the Technology Committee of the Litigation Section and Member of the Technology Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA).

The Litigation Section's membership includes lawyers who have a substantial portion of their practice in civil litigation. The council, consisting of both plaintiff and defense lawyers, analyzes litigation issues from a neutral perspective.

The Technology Committee is responsible for developing and implementing reliable remote access available to all North Carolina legal professionals to public records; supporting and overseeing the evaluation and implementation of new technologies that support all aspects of the NCBA; and helping Association members receive the benefits of technology through the identification and recommendation of technology products, services, and providers of particular interest to legal professionals.

Mr. Benzoni's practice focuses on litigation (including commercial and employment litigation), corporate governance, and sustainable development and renewable energy. He joined Smith Anderson after completing a clerkship with Judge Allyson K. Duncan, United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit. Prior to this experience, Francisco taught business ethics to MBA students at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Princeton University, received his Ph.D. in ethics from The University of Chicago, and taught math and science as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Lesotho in southern Africa.
