Shortly after passing in the General Assembly, Bill S481 was signed by Governor McCrory on Friday, July 22 on NC State’s Centennial Campus. The NC PACES Act encourages innovation and entrepreneurship, and allows private and small businesses in North Carolina to raise up to $2 million through crowdfunding from individual investors, regardless of their wealth.
NC Secretary of Commerce John Skvarla and NC Senator Tamara Barringer recognized partner Benji Jones for her efforts in the drafting and development of the new crowdfunding law. The Secretary of State’s office must now adopt rules for the Bill before it is implemented. Benji was present at the signing and shared her insights and the benefits of the Bill with ABC11 and WRAL.
“It enables companies to harness the passion of their community, the passion of customers, of their clients, of their neighbors to support their business and dreams,” said Benji.
