Kerry Shad and Jennifer Markham Participate in Student Networking and Mentoring Event Sponsored by Support Organization for Latino Law Students

Raleigh, NC (February 2, 2011) – Kerry Shad and Jennifer Markham, lawyers with Smith Anderson, participated in discussion panels at a law student networking and mentoring event sponsored by the Latino Affairs Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Hispanic National Bar Association. The event was held on Saturday, January 29 at the N.C. Bar Center from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.

The event was well-attended by law students from various North Carolina law schools and featured three discussion panels and a speed networking and mentoring event. Attorneys from law firms and legal departments of corporations in the Triangle and law school administrators participated in the event. The Honorable Albert Diaz of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit also attended and discussed the importance of networking and mentoring.

Ms. Shad’s panel discussed “Cover Letters and Resumes.” She is a partner with Smith Anderson’s Employment, Labor and Human Resources practice group. She focuses her practice on representing employers in connection with all aspects of employment-related litigation and counseling. She is also co-chair of Smith Anderson’s diversity committee and a member of the firm’s recruiting committee.

Ms. Markham’s panel discussed “The Do’s and Don’ts of Interviewing.” She is an associate with Smith Anderson’s Health Care and Insurance practice areas and also a member of the firm’s recruiting committee.
