Colonel Kirk Warner Retires After 33 Years in U.S. Army

Raleigh, N.C. – Smith Anderson Partner Kirk Warner retires from the U.S. Army on July 1, 2013, after 33 years of military service.  Colonel Warner relinquished command of the 134th Legal Operations Detachment during a Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony that was held on June 8, 2013 at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville, N.C., and officiated by BG Leanne Burch, Commanding General, U.S. Army Reserve Legal Command and MG Gill Beck, Commanding General, 81st Reserve Readiness Command.

COL Warner previously served as Deputy Legal Counsel to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon, and Staff Judge Advocate of the Army’s Training Command.  In 2003, he was deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he served as Deputy Staff Judge Advocate; Combined Joint Task Force-7 in Baghdad; and Senior Judge Advocate in the Command Operations Center, Coalition Forces Land Component Command, Camp Doha, Kuwait, during the march to Baghdad. Warner also commanded the 12th JAG Detachment in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
