Ms. Ries has practiced with Smith Anderson since 2003. Ms. Ries focuses her practice on business-related disputes including shareholder disputes, breach of contract and tortious interference with contract cases; franchise disputes, including automobile dealership disputes; insurance coverage cases; copyright, trademark, and patent infringement cases; and fraud and negligent misrepresentation cases. She has represented clients in such commercial litigation matters before state and federal courts, as well as the American Arbitration Association.

- Representation of a corporation and its shareholders through trial in a shareholder derivative action before the North Carolina Business Court.
- Defense of several suits brought in different jurisdictions by a limited liability company against its former founder/member.

- Defense of a publicly traded company in series of complex breach of contract/negligent misrepresentation cases.
- Representation of insurance carriers in a broad range of contractual disputes.
- Defense of franchise disputes, including automobile manufacturer/dealer disputes before the Commission of Motor Vehicles.
- Representation of commercial and pro bono clients through trial and summary judgment in land-lord tenant matters.
