Antitrust and Trade Regulation

From understanding the implications of complex regulations to advising clients on the best ways to meet strategic corporate goals, the practice of antitrust and trade law calls for a wide range of legislative, legal and business experience and acumen. Drawing on specific antitrust experience and familiarity with legislative and regulatory environments, our team of lawyers is able to provide knowledgeable counsel.

We assist clients in all aspects of antitrust and regulatory trade law, including compliance issues, transactional and litigation matters, at both the State and Federal levels.

Audits, Counseling and Due Diligence Investigations:
We assist clients in connection with audits and due diligence investigations and provide counseling on marketing, pricing and distribution issues and mergers and acquisitions. We regularly advise clients on regulatory issues attendant to commercial transactions.

Trade Regulation Litigation:
Smith Anderson has represented companies in antitrust actions filed in North Carolina and throughout the Southeast. The firm also has represented private parties in major litigation affecting North Carolina antitrust and unfair trade practice statutes.

Legislative Advocacy:
Smith Anderson's antitrust group monitors and analyzes legislation and regulations for the firm's clients, and participates in government meetings and hearings.

Additional Services:
We publish periodic newsletters to assist our clients in keeping abreast of regulatory changes and judicial interpretations. We also advise clients of the activities of various agencies (both private and governmental) charged with monitoring regulatory issues.

Our Lawyers:
The group includes lawyers who have prior experience before governmental regulators and are versed in both corporate risk management and litigation areas.
