North Carolina Construction Law Deskbook

Partners Pete Marino, Wayne Maiorano and Mike Weddington Make Prominent Contributions to the Recently Released North Carolina Construction Law Deskbook

For the third consecutive edition, Smith Anderson partner Pete Marino served as Managing Editor and a co-author of the recently released Fourth Edition (2006) of the North Carolina Construction Law Deskbook.

In addition to serving as Managing Editor, Mr.Marino and Smith Anderson partners Wayne Maiorano and Mike Weddington worked with a team of some of the state’s top construction lawyers to co-author the content for the 1000 page resource.

Published since 1994 by the North Carolina Bar Association Foundation, Inc., the Deskbook serves as a preeminent resource for lawyers practicing Construction law and related fields. The Fourth Edition includes for the first time a chapter on Building Codes and Permitting as well as substantial changes to the Construction Liens chapter including a concise summary of the October 2005 changes to the lien statutes.

The Deskbook also includes for the first time a fully searchable CD of pertinent forms.

As chair of Smith Anderson’s Construction practice, Mr. Marino represents owners, developers, contractors and design professionals on larger public and private projects. He is the current Chair-Elect of the Construction Section of the NC Bar Association, and serves as an appointed member of the Bar Association’s Joint Committee with the Carolina’s Chapter of the Association of General Contractors. Mr. Marino is a frequent invited speaker and author on construction law topics.

Mr. Maiorano concentrates his practice on complex commercial disputes and all facets of construction litigation including disputes arising out of public and private projects, surety litigation, creditor rights, insurance coverage disputes, professional malpractice actions and healthcare law matters.

Mr. Weddington has over 33 years of experience in handling complex commercial litigation and other disputes. His diverse practice also includes substantial experience in representing sureties in a variety of construction industry disputes.
