Raleigh, NC (November 19, 2009) -- Christopher Capel, Lacy Reaves and Gerald Roach, Partners with Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell and Jernigan, L.L.P., have been named “Raleigh Lawyers of the Year” in their respective practice areas, by Best Lawyers, a highly respected legal peer-review publication. Mr. Capel has been named the Best Lawyers’ 2010 Raleigh Mergers & Acquisitions Lawyer of the Year; Mr. Reaves has been named the Best Lawyers’ 2010 Raleigh Real Estate Lawyer of the Year and Mr. Roach has been named the Best Lawyers’ 2010 Raleigh Securities Lawyer of the Year. He was also honored as Best Lawyers’ 2009 Raleigh Corporate Lawyer of the Year.

Best Lawyers compiles its lists of outstanding attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The current, 16th edition of The Best Lawyers in America, is based on more than 2.8 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.

The lawyers being honored as “Lawyers of the Year” have received particularly high ratings in the surveys by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity.

“The editors of Best Lawyers would like to congratulate Mr. Capel, Mr. Reaves and Mr. Roach on the honor of being held in such high esteem by their peers,” said Steven Naifeh, managing editor of Best Lawyers.
