Smith Anderson Lawyers Participate in Council for Entrepreneurial Development’s CAFÉ Event on Company Valuations

Raleigh, NC (June 21, 2010) - Smith Anderson lawyers Merrill Mason and Andrew Fisher organized a session for entrepreneurs sponsored by the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) on Thursday, June 17, 2010. CED’s CAFÉ (Competitive Advantage through Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship) program offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to obtain tactical resources to help overcome early barriers. Mr. Fisher moderated the session, “Company Valuation: So, We’ve Created Value, but How Much?,” which explored valuations in three contexts: setting the strike price for stock options, negotiating a pre-money valuation in preparation for an equity financing, and determining value in advance of a sale of the company. Speakers with significant experience in each of the three topics provided a short presentation and were available to provide insight and advice in small group breakout sessions following the presentations. Attendees learned how to address issues critical to successfully advancing their businesses.

Mr. Mason and Mr. Fisher practice in Smith Anderson’s Corporate Securities practice group, where they represent the interests of diverse clients through the growth cycle, from emerging to mature.
