Byron Kirkland Co-Chairs CED Venture 2009 Conference

Byron Kirkland, Smith Anderson partner, was co-chair of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development Venture 2009 conference held in Pinehurst April 22 and 23. Venture 2009 marks the 26th year of this conference that has created business opportunities for hundreds of entrepreneurs and investors across North Carolina and the Southeast. Mr. Kirkland has been a corporate and securities lawyer for more than 20 years. He has extensive experience in public offerings; venture capital financings; domestic and international mergers and acquisitions and general corporate law and securities matters.

More than 500 people were in attendance to hear speakers such as John Stumpf, President & CEO of Wells Fargo & Company; Erskine Bowles, president of The University of North Carolina System; The Honorable Janet Cowell, North Carolina State Treasurer and Chris Hughes, Facebook co-founder.
