Alicia Gilleskie Speaks at Carolina Privacy Officials Network Event

Alicia Gilleskie, Associate at Smith Anderson Law Firm, spoke at the Carolina Privacy Officials Network (CPON) event held January 26, 2009. Ms. Gilleskie practices primarily in the areas of technology law and information privacy and security. She advises clients in the software, information technology, health care, data aggregation and Internet and e-commerce industries.

At this event, Ms. Gilleskie joined corporate officers and other lawyers to discuss the current state of information security breach notification laws. Also addressed was the expanding nature of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) enforcement and enforcement by other agencies, as well as emerging state-based information security developments that expand upon breach notification.

Ms. Gilleskie was part of a panel that included Douglas Niska, Vice President-Privacy and Michael W. Hubbard, Chief Privacy Officer with United Health Group and Brian W. Klemm, Senior Counsel and Corporate Compliance Officer of SAS Institute. The event was hosted by the North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance in RTP.
