Monica Thomas Elected to Serve as Co-Secretary of the NCBA Minorities in the Profession Committee

Smith Anderson lawyer, Monica Thomas, was elected to serve as Co-Secretary of the North Carolina Bar Association's (NCBA) Minorities in the Profession committee. Janet Ward Black, President-Elect of the NCBA, appointed Ms. Thomas to this committee. Among other responsibilities, the Minorities in the Profession committee seeks to encourage participation of minorities in the legal profession and to offer opportunities to support minorities pursuing a law degree.

A corporate lawyer, Ms. Thomas' diverse practice includes general corporate, mergers and acquisitions and securities law. Prior to joining Smith Anderson, Ms. Thomas completed a clerkship with the Honorable Mark Martin, Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. She became a lawyer after several years working in the banking industry.
