Christopher Capel Elected to the North Carolina Biosciences Organization's Board of Directors

At its 2006 Annual Meeting on May 22nd, the North Carolina Biosciences Organization (NCBIO) elected Smith Anderson partner Christopher Capel to a 3-year term on its Board of Directors, effective immediately.

NCBIO represents the interests of the biosciences industry in North Carolina. The organization consists of companies and institutions working in such diverse areas as human therapeutics, medical devices, diagnostics and agricultural biotechnology. As the North Carolina affiliate of the national Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), NCBIO works with BIO to advocate federal, state and local public policies designed to help the bioscience industry.

A corporate lawyer, Mr. Capel has extensive experience counseling emerging and mature companies, both privately- and publicly-held, in corporate, securities and technology law matters. His practice includes corporate finance; mergers and acquisitions; technology licensing; and public company reporting and compliance. He also advises companies and their directors on corporate governance matters and other general corporate and business matters.
