Wayne Maiorano Speaks at Construction Management Association of America Seminar

Raleigh, NC (November 21, 2011) Wayne Maiorano, a partner with Smith Anderson’s Construction practice group, spoke at a Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) seminar on Wednesday, November 16 at Brier Creek. The topic of his presentation was “Construction Contracting in Changing Times – Dealing with the New Normal and the Coming of IPD.”

Mr. Maiorano spoke of the opportunities and risks associated with construction projects during the challenging economic times. His presentation focused on the recent changes in the law that will affect everyone in the construction community and the importance that those working with projects understand the risks and find ways to achieve greater efficiency and economic return. Mr. Maiorano also explored the opportunities and risks associated with green building practices and the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method.

In his practice, Mr. Maiorano advises clients in all aspects of construction law, including contract negotiations and drafting, risk management, dispute resolution and litigation. He represents developers, general contractors, large subcontractors, sureties and design professionals. Mr. Maiorano has extensive experience assisting clients with surety and lien claims, construction disputes arising out of public and private projects, construction defect claims, real estate and property related disputes and litigation, insurance coverage disputes, licensing issues and landlord-tenant disputes.
