Business North Carolina

In its February 2018 issue, Business North Carolina published the “North Carolina Power 100,” a list of the 100 most influential business and nonprofit leaders across the state who are making a significant impact in their enterprises, industries and, in many cases, the broader community.

This year’s list includes Smith Anderson’s Managing Partner, Gerald Roach, recognizing his outstanding leadership to North Carolina’s business community, the broader community and the firm. The magazine describes Gerald as “a go-to securities lawyer at the largest law firm based in the Triangle, having participated in deals topping $50 billion in the last five years.”

In addition to serving as Smith Anderson’s managing partner and previously as the Chair of its governing board for 15 years, Gerald currently serves as a Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees of Wake Forest University, a member of the Board of Wake Forest University Health Sciences, a member of the Board and Executive Committee of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center and Chair of the Imagine Capital Campaign at White Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Gerald’s practice involves domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance matters, public company securities, private financings, technology and advising boards of directors and special committees. He regularly represents public and private growth companies and private equity firms with their general corporate needs and domestic and international transactions. Gerald is a highly credentialed corporate law attorney, ranked in numerous top legal publications, including the BTI Client Service All-Stars list, Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and The Best Lawyers in America©.

Business North Carolina’s Power 100 list is compiled after gathering information from dozens of business professionals across the state, as well as relying on its staff’s collective knowledge from many years working in North Carolina.
