Sharita Whitaker Discusses Minorities In The Profession Committee with North Carolina Lawyer Magazine

Sharita Whitaker, chair of the Minorities in the Profession (MIP) Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association, was quoted extensively in the “Minorities In The Profession Committee Continues ‘Moving Forward’” article in the May 2016 edition of North Carolina Lawyer Magazine.

The article discusses the progression and development of the Minority in the Profession Committee, including the evolvement of the annual Minority Pre-Law Conference aimed at high school and college students considering or planning on attending law school.

Describing her ideas for the MIP program, Sharita is quoted as saying “We have a number of different ideas for programs that we need to bring to life…We want to focus more on practicing attorneys. We have a number of programs for students, so it is time to make sure we have good programming and events for our practicing attorneys. Retention is so important in the legal profession and especially here in North Carolina.”
