Smith Anderson Partner Bill Nelson Elected Fellow of American College of Tax Counsel

Raleigh, N.C. – The Board of Regents of the American College of Tax Counsel has announced that Smith Anderson Partner Bill Nelson has been elected as a Fellow of the College.

ACTC is a professional association of tax attorneys formed in 1981. Membership is limited to a maximum of 700 tax attorneys across the United States. With his election, Bill becomes the 15th ACTC Fellow in North Carolina.

Membership in the College is an honor reserved for those at the top of their chosen profession. The College’s members, called “Fellows,” are tax lawyers working in private law firms and in-house legal departments, teaching tax in law schools, or working in federal or state revenue agencies.

He also represents taxpayers before federal, state and local tax authorities in tax controversies. He has written and spoken on a variety of federal and state tax topics and has been active in a number of state tax and business law legislative reform efforts.
