Pete Marino Offers Practical Advice on Navigating the New North Carolina Lien Law

RALEIGH, N.C. – On February 21, 2013, Smith Anderson Partner Pete Marino co-presented at the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) Continuing Legal Education program and educated lawyers on the new North Carolina Lien Law. In his seminar, “Lien and Bond Law – The New and the Old,” Pete provided a preview of the new lien legislation; discussed contractual provisions, compliance protocols and other suggestions for maximizing benefits and minimizing risks under the new lien statutes; identified the effects of failing to provide the “notice to lien agent” or other required notices; and reviewed the significant judicial decisions affecting whether and how lien and bond claims can be pursued.
