Merrill Mason Speaks to Aspiring Lawyers at Cary Academy’s Career Day

RALEIGH, N.C. – On February 1, 2013, Smith Anderson partner Merrill Mason spoke with students as part of Cary Academy’s Career Connections program. By highlighting the realities behind what it takes to be successful and helping students to identify their own strengths, the Career Connections program helps students make well-informed decisions on whether they should pursue a career as a lawyer.

Merrill provided student with an in-depth look at the qualities and skills that contribute to a successful career as a lawyer, the different areas of the law in which they may focus, the differences between large and small firms, salary ranges, and provided an example of a day in the life of a lawyer.

With extensive experience representing technology and life sciences companies, Merrill represents entrepreneurial and emerging enterprises. Passionate about working with developing entrepreneurs and law students, Merrill has taught as an adjunct instructor at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School and the University of North Carolina School of Law.

Cary Academy is an independent, coeducational, college-preparatory day school for students in grades 6-12 located in the Research Triangle area.
