Raleigh, NC (October 27, 2010) - Margaret Rosenfeld and Alicia Gilleskie, lawyers in Smith Anderson's Corporate Law Practice, served as special guest speakers at an event hosted by Chubb Specialty Insurance and IAS Associates. The topic, "Cyber Liability: Is Your Balance Sheet Exposed?" addressed the growing need of businesses to adopt cyber protection procedures that keep pace with the adoption of new technologies.
Presenters also included: Special Agent Peter Ahearn with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and George Allport, an Underwriter for Chubb Specialty Insurance.
Gilleskie's presentation provided an overview of U.S.-based laws governing the use and protection of consumer personal information and ways to mitigate the risk of financial harm in the event of a data breach.
In a panel discussion with the FBI and Chubb, Rosenfeld examined corporate investigations in response to a data breach incident, addressing interactions with government investigators and the coordination of remediation efforts with the company's Board of Directors.
Rosenfeld has extensive experience in corporate and securities law both within the United States and internationally. Her practice includes corporate investigations (internal and government), corporate governance, public company reporting, public offerings and private placements of securities, as well as general corporate representation.
Gilleskie's practice focuses on technology licensing and collaborations and information privacy and security. She counsels companies in a variety of industries that include software and technology, data aggregation, retail, and Internet and eCommerce.
