Wake Forest University School of Law Appoints Smith Anderson Attorney Mike Mitchell to Board of Visitors

Wake Forest University School of Law's Office of Development and Alumni Engagement has named Smith Anderson attorney and law school alum Mike Mitchell to its board of visitors. Mike’s three-year term on the board began July 1.

The board meets regularly throughout the year to hear updates from Wake Forest Law leadership and use their legal, business, nonprofit and community expertise to help the school develop and implement its mission and goals, according to a press release.

Members support opportunities with the Office of Career and Professional Development, Office of Admissions, and Office of Development and Alumni Engagement, with the goal of helping students succeed and encouraging fellow alumni to stay engaged in the legal community. 

"Having these talented volunteers join at a critical time in legal education because they want to give back to Wake Forest Law speaks volumes about their character and drive," said Logan Roach, assistant dean of development and staff liaison to the board of visitors. "We are thrilled to welcome each new member as the law school starts another year under the leadership of new dean, Andy Klein, welcomes a new 1L class in the fall and engages in the Strategic Framework process under the leadership of President Wente."

Mike is a trial and appellate lawyer with 30 years of experience in state and federal courts. He is co-chair of the firm's Litigation team, as well as the Intellectual Property Litigation practice. Mike advises clients on business strategies for resolving complex disputes. He regularly manages complex business litigation. He has tried cases in all three federal districts in North Carolina and in numerous counties across the state. Mike routinely manages cases in the North Carolina Business Court and cases designated as Exceptional by the Chief Justice. He has handled appeals before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court and the North Carolina Court of Appeals. He also has represented clients with cases pending in other states, including California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Texas, Michigan, Washington and South Carolina.
